ANZCEN Governing Faculty have developed the followed Target Audience Definitions that are used for all ANZCEN courses and education programs to assist Emergency Nurses select courses based on their personal development needs.
Novice participants are defined as having limited clinical practice skills/reasoning within the specialty environment, does not undertake specialist roles/skills; requires indirect supervision and requires guidance on professional development and support.
Intermediate participants are defined as having emerging clinical practice skills/reasoning within the specialty environment, developing in specialist roles/skills; seeks additional clinical support/guidance when required and sets professional development goals with limited support.
Proficient participants are defined as having comprehensive clinical practice skills and reasoning within the specialty environment. Practices specialist roles/skills; provides clinical support/guidance to others where required and sets professional development goals. May hold or be working towards advanced clinical, educational or leadership roles.
Advance participants are defined as having progressive clinical practice skills/reasoning within the specialty environment, demonstrates well developed advanced specialist roles/skills; Regularly provides clinical support/guidance to others. Holds advanced clinical, educational or leadership roles.
